Natural Home Birth
I'm writing my first experience of natural home birth to encourage parents who are considering home birth for your precious baby. After one short cry, my second boy was born at home in three hours. That was so simple - no drugs, no IV, no complications.
Before my first baby was born, I couldn't believe that my wife would have a natural hospital birth, and couldn't imagine that she would have a natural home birth for our second child. My wife, Linda, is a cute and tiny Chinese lady, and usually she weights under 90 pounds. My two children both weighted around 6 pounds each at birth. I truly surrendered to the love and endurance of my wife, who gave birth to two babies and breast-fed the first child for over two years.
Three hours before the natural home birth, Linda's contractions started and it became very strong a half an hour later. Linda was sitting on a chair with her head leaning on the table. I asked her to lie down on the bed in order to relieve her pain and keep her strength. She was holding my hand and squeezing so tightly, and I had never felt such tremendous strength in her life.
I phoned the midwives, but either they were off call or there was no answer. I’m really glad my saviour Angelina arrived in time. Angelina is a mom with 7 kids and with 4 natural home births. As my best friend and Linda's doula, she supported us from the very beginning. The first thing Angelina did was ask Linda to stand up in order to help her body and the baby's position by taking advantage of natural gravity. Linda was leaning over her shoulders and breathing based on her instructions.
Since the midwives still did not show up, I asked Angelina if we should call 911 or go to hospital and she replied with a very confirmative "NO". Her confidence helped my wife and I clear our doubts and continue with the perfect natural home birth.
Our midwives Trish and Kerstin showed up at the perfect time, and we knew the birth was going to happen at home for sure. Linda's dilation reached 7 centimetres one hour before the natural home birth. I was helping with the preparation, and at the same time running up and down to chase my two and half year old son, Wudi, who was so excited for the coming baby.
When I saw the baby's head appear, I ran for the camera. It only took one minute for mom to push the baby out, and it was a baby BOY for sure! Because it went so fast, I only got 2 pictures for the birth process. My first boy Wudi and I cut the umbilical cord for the new born baby together. The brand new baby was so quiet and peaceful, and he only had two short cries. Several minutes later, he opened his eyes, and he didn't like lights too much. Within an hour, he started to drink breast milk from his mom.
That was such a miracle, and a wonderful natural home birth. I was so blessed to experience the beginning of a new life in a holistic and natural way!
